Eyewitness Account: Hickory Bar Owner, Arnold, was Shot Seated in His Car

RIP: Arnold

On Tuesday morning at around 10am, a security guard working with Saracen Uganda Limited open fire at a car in Quality Shopping Supermarket parking yard.

The irate guard according to an eyewitness had picked an argument with three men, two who were pushing their trolleys after shopping from the supermarket while one was in a car seated waiting for them.

This eyewitness who asked to remain unnamed told TrumpetNews moments after the shoot-out what exactly transpired.

How it Happened

Three men who were from a gym using one vehicle entered Quality Supermarket parking yard in Naalya a Kampala suburb.

Only two went to the supermarket as one (Arnold Ainebyona) kept waiting for them in the car.

After a while the duo came out of the supermarket pushing their trolleys full of goods.

“Unfortunately, as they conversed one of the men reluctantly held the trolley which scratched a customer’s car in the parking lot,” a witness revealed.

The askari (security guard) who noticed, intercepted the duo who in returned minded less as they told the driver to start the car and they leave.

Angry as they are known to be, the Askari alerted these customers that unless they pay for the damaged car none would be allowed to leave the premises.

“But the driver seemed impatient as he hooted while exchanging with the guard,” added a witness.

Unintended, the driver somehow knocked the enraged security guard who swiftly rushed to his booth and pulled an SMG rifle, shot and wounded the driver.

He dropped the gun and tried to flee the crime scene but was intercepted by a charged mob which pounced on him.

Police responded faster and rescued the guard who was taken to Mulago Hospital while he sustained wounds.

The driver was also rushed to Independent Hospital in Ntinda where he succumbed to bullet wounds. Police has since transferred his body to Mulago for postmortem.

The deceased has been identified as Arnold Mugisha Ainebyona, the co- owner of Hickory Bar in Kololo.

He is a graduate of Oxford University.

The two men who had accompanied the deceased have since registered their statement and one of them is a brother to Arnold.

Police recovered the killer gun and also cordoned off the premises as Forensic Detectives are reconstructing the scene of crime.
