The National Resistance Movement Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi has said President Yoweri Museveni has no choice but to contest as the party’s Presidential candidate in the coming election.
Tanga Odoi was Friday morning addressing the media when he said President Museveni is a gift from God to NRM and Uganda.
“President Museveni has no choice but present himself as a candidate. You bring your youthful candidate and we will bring our 75-year old. Museveni is a leadership gift from God to NRM and Uganda and he/NRM is here to rule the country up to 2021 and beyond,” he said, congratulating Museveni and NRM for the Supreme Court win (lifting of presidential age limit).
He said the NRM has kicked off preparation for the 2021 general polls.
“We are training our electoral officers, preparing for the launch of our register and are working with the National electoral Commission but also mobilizing funds,” Odoi said advising 2021 political hopefuls to start verifying their academic papers.
“Don’t come here to ask us where you can stand. This is the time. I request you to desist from illegal campaigns. Start verifying your papers now. NRM is ready to lead this country up to 2021 and beyond,” he said.
