State Minister for ICT Hon. Idah Nantaba has been put under house arrest.

Nantaba revealed her plight in a letter she wrote to CIID Kibuli, after failing to honour police summons on Friday.

She had been summoned to record a statement in relation to the events that happened last Sunday which catapulted into death of Ronald Ssebulime whom she accused of trying to assassinate her as she traveled from her constituency in Kayunga.

“Reference is made to yours dated 28th March 2019 of even Ref. CID/A 131/155 inviting me to Kibuli CID Headquarters to record a statement in regard to the above subject matter. Note however that am unable to report in person having been directed by His Excellency the President to confine within my premises until he himself instructs otherwise,” Nantaba explains in a letter.

However, she invited investigators to her home.

“In such circumstances, lam constrained to travel to Kibuli CID Headquarters as you requested. But you may in the meantime consider visiting my premises to record the required statement.”

Ssebulime was killed by police in a way human rights defenders termed extrajudicial because the suspect was already subdued contrary to police’s earlier account.

But later Wednesday, police spokesman Fred Enanga apologized to the deceased’s family and admitted Ssebulime was murdered by police.

Ssebulime left behind 4 children.
