Ugandan business magnate Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has unveiled an ambitious redevelopment plan for Kabira Country Club, signalling a transformative new chapter for one of Kampala’s most established leisure and hospitality centres.
Digital architectural designs released by Ruparelia showcase a striking shift from the club’s current low-rise layout to a modern skyline defined by high-rise towers, glass façades and expansive balconies. The redesign blends urban sophistication with resort-style comfort, incorporating landscaped green spaces and open recreational areas.
The multi-billion-shilling redevelopment is being undertaken by the Ruparelia Group through its real estate arm, Meera Investments. Upon completion, the upgraded complex will feature approximately 360 luxury serviced apartments, an 18-storey five-star hotel tower, a shopping mall, multiple restaurants, upgraded sports facilities, a bowling alley and a state-of-the-art conference centre. Construction works are being executed by Vcon Construction Uganda Limited.
According to project details, the vision is to transform Kabira into a fully integrated, self-contained destination where guests can live, shop, dine and relax within one sophisticated environment. Key structures are projected for completion within the year, with construction already underway.
Currently rated a four-star property by the Uganda Tourism Board, Kabira Country Club has long been known as a boutique hotel and recreation hub offering swimming, tennis and event facilities. The new development will retain these core amenities while significantly expanding into high-end residential and commercial offerings targeting both local and international clientele.
The project adds to Ruparelia’s growing portfolio of landmark hospitality investments, including Kingdom Kampala and Speke Resort Munyonyo, further cementing his footprint in Uganda’s tourism and property sectors.
Once completed, the revamped Kabira is expected to redefine Bukoto’s skyline and elevate Kampala’s standard of upscale living, business and leisure infrastructure.
