UCU Dean of Students Pamela Tumwebaze dies after Night attack at her Home

RIP: Pamela Tumwebaze

The Joint Security Task Team investigating the murder of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Director of Students Affairs, Pamela Tumwebaze, has arrested a key suspect in the case.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed that Taewaiko Dak Hussein was arrested on February 14, 2026, from his hideout in Budaka District.

Police say the suspect was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased, a critical piece of evidence that investigators believe directly links him to the crime.

Preliminary findings further indicate that the suspect is a former house help to Tumwebaze, a development that could explain how the assailant was able to move confidently inside the Seeta residence during the early morning attack.

Tumwebaze was strangled in her bedroom at around 2:00am on February 11 at her home in Gwaffu West Village, Seeta, Mukono District. Police earlier reported that the attacker switched on the bedroom lights, wore one of the deceased’s dresses, demanded gate keys from the maid, and exited with a laptop bag and phone.

The arrest now marks a significant turning point in the high-profile murder investigation that has gripped the UCU community and the wider public.

Police say investigations remain ongoing, and further updates will be communicated as progress is made.
