The Ruparelia Group has moved into one of the final phases of works at its flagship Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria, with construction of a man-made beach now underway as the lavish eco-luxury retreat nears completion and official opening.
Sources close to the project reveal that excavation works for the beach have been fully completed, marking a major milestone in the resort’s development. What remains is the transportation and spreading of sand along the shoreline to create an approximately 500-metre stretch of pristine beach, expected to become one of the resort’s standout attractions.
The artificial beach is designed to blend seamlessly with the island’s natural setting, offering guests a rare combination of lakefront leisure and tropical island aesthetics. Once completed, it will provide ample space for relaxation, water sports, private events, and sunset experiences overlooking Lake Victoria.
This latest development comes shortly after the unveiling of a purpose-built barge by tycoon Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, intended to support logistics and operations at the island resort. The barge is expected to play a key role in ferrying construction materials, including sand for the beach, as final touches are put in place.
Paradise Island Resort sits on a 19-acre private island, roughly 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo. The project, which began in 2021, has been widely described as one of Uganda’s most ambitious hospitality investments. It features a range of high-end accommodation options, including Standard cottages, Cliff-Hanger cottages built on dramatic rocky outcrops, Deluxe two-bedroom cottages, and exclusive Executive Villas.
Industry observers say the addition of a long, carefully engineered beach elevates the resort’s appeal, placing it in direct competition with luxury island destinations beyond East Africa. Unlike natural lake shores that are often rocky or marshy, the man-made beach is intended to offer guests a soft, walkable shoreline without compromising the island’s ecological balance.
A source familiar with the project noted that the beach forms part of a broader vision to position Paradise Island as a world-class destination. “This is about creating a complete luxury experience—privacy, nature, comfort, and top-tier infrastructure all in one place,” the source said.
As finishing works progress and preparations for opening intensify, the emerging beach signals that Paradise Island Resort is entering its final chapter before welcoming guests. Once operational, the resort is expected to redefine luxury tourism on Lake Victoria and further cement the Ruparelia Group’s footprint in Uganda’s hospitality sector.
