Muhoozi meets German Ambassador

Gen Muhoozi and Ambassador Matthias Schauer met at SFC head offices in Entebbe

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has held a high-level meeting with the German Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Matthias Schauer, in a move that signals renewed diplomatic engagement between Kampala and Berlin.

The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters, focused on reaffirming the longstanding bilateral relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany. Discussions covered a wide range of areas of mutual interest, including regional stability, development cooperation, and prospects for expanding the Uganda–Germany partnership.

Both officials engaged in forward-looking dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation across several sectors, underscoring a shared commitment to deepening diplomatic and strategic ties between the two countries.

The engagement comes shortly after Ambassador Schauer’s recent meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, highlighting the continuity and high-level importance Uganda attaches to its relations with Germany.

During the discussions, General Kainerugaba and Ambassador Schauer reflected on the historical foundations of Uganda–Germany relations, which have long been defined by diplomacy, development cooperation, and mutual respect. The two sides expressed a desire to build on this foundation and explore new avenues for collaboration.

Ambassador Schauer commended Uganda’s role in regional affairs and reiterated Germany’s commitment to maintaining a constructive and mutually beneficial partnership. He noted the potential for enhanced cooperation in several areas of shared interest.

Both parties agreed that any differences arising in the course of bilateral engagement should be addressed through open diplomatic dialogue and mutual understanding.

The meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing healthy relations between Kampala and Berlin, signaling a joint commitment to not only preserve but actively strengthen Uganda–Germany ties amid evolving regional and global dynamics.
