Speke Resort Munyonyo hosts First-Ever Stanbic Digital Summit, Uniting Uganda’s content Creators and Innovators

Speke Resort Munyonyo has hosted the first-ever Stanbic Ongea Digital Summit 2025, a landmark gathering that brought together creators, policymakers, innovators and key industry stakeholders to shape the future of Uganda’s digital ecosystem. The summit, widely shared under the hashtag #StanbicOngeaDigitalSummit25, transformed the lakeside venue into a national hub of innovation, creativity and strategic dialogue, marking a major leap in the country’s efforts to professionalise and strengthen its creator economy.

Organised by Stanbic Bank Uganda in partnership with Ongea Africa, the Uganda Communications Commission and the Uganda Digital Society, the summit provided a platform for discussions on monetisation, regulation, digital inclusion and the opportunities emerging in the fast-growing digital content space. Participants—from established industry leaders to young creators—engaged in conversations designed to unlock the full potential of Uganda’s digital sector while ensuring that it remains inclusive and accessible to youth, women, elders and persons with disabilities.

Friends of Uganda (FOU) was among the organisations actively engaging with partners at the summit, sharing its mission of promoting unity, responsible digital engagement and national cohesion. Through strategic networking and collaborative discussions, FOU emphasised the importance of leveraging technology not only as an economic driver but also as a tool for peacebuilding and empowerment across communities.

The summit highlighted Uganda’s accelerating digital transformation and Stanbic Bank’s commitment to investing in youth skills and opportunities. With this first edition setting a strong foundation, stakeholders expressed optimism that the Stanbic Ongea Digital Summit will grow into one of the region’s most influential platforms for digital innovation and creator development. As the day closed, one message echoed strongly: Uganda’s digital future is collaborative, inclusive and full of promise, and events like these are essential in ensuring every citizen can participate, contribute and thrive in the evolving digital era.
