The 2025 SMACKOBA Dinner & Awards Night at Hotel Africana brought together hundreds of Old Boys of St. Mary’s College Kisubi for an evening of celebration, leadership recognition, and renewed commitment to community service.

The prestigious event, graced by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, highlighted the extraordinary achievements of individuals who have upheld the values of their alma mater while driving impact across the country.

Among the standout honourees was leading businessman Dr. Charles Mbire, Chairman and local shareholder of MTN Uganda, who received the Alumni Medallion Award.

His plaque read:

“In recognition of your exceptional dedication, distinguished service and unwavering commitment to the ideals and values of St. Mary’s College Kisubi. Your contributions stand as an inspiration to all members of our community. Given this 5th day of December, 2025,” signed by Ray Nyamatebe Baguma (President, SMACKOBA) and Alex Munobe (Secretary General, SMACKOBA).

Mbire’s recognition placed him among several top city businessmen whose professional accomplishments and public service continue to elevate the SMACK legacy.

The same award was presented to Titular head of the Muslim community in Uganda, Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu.

Beyond celebrating individual excellence, the evening also showcased SMACKOBA’s far-reaching charitable work.

Over the years, the association has funded children’s school fees, supported patients struggling with hospital bills, contributed to community development efforts, and consistently mobilised resources to uplift vulnerable groups.

These acts of service remain a defining hallmark of the Old Boys’ fraternity.

With distinguished alumni such as Fabian Kasi, Joseph Balikuddembe, and other industry leaders in attendance, the 2025 Dinner & Awards Night reaffirmed SMACKOBA’s ethos of discipline, service, leadership, and giving back.

The event closed on a note of unity and pride, with members pledging to continue transforming communities while upholding the spirit of Kisubi.
