Uganda has once again taken its place on the global meetings and events stage, showcasing some of its most advanced tourism and MICE infrastructure at IBTM World 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
Among the standout attractions presented by the Uganda Government and private-sector partners is the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, one of the country’s newest and most strategically important conference facilities.
The Uganda delegation, led by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) through the Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), is attending the three-day expo running from 18th to 20th November 2025. The team is accompanied by representatives from 10 private-sector MICE companies, forming a unified front to market Uganda’s full value chain—ranging from convention centres and hotels to DMCs, PCOs, safari lodges, and incentive travel specialists.
At the heart of the showcase is the Speke Resort Convention Centre, a flagship investment of the Ruparelia Group in partnership with the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC). The ultramodern facility, located along the shores of Lake Victoria in Munyonyo, features a main auditorium with a seating capacity of up to 3,800 delegates, multiple breakout rooms, high-end accommodation options, and world-class amenities suited for international summits, corporate meetings, exhibitions and large-scale events.

Uganda’s presence at IBTM World is aligned with the country’s MICE Strategy 2025–2030, which aims to position the Pearl of Africa as a premier African destination for meetings, conferences and business tourism. The inclusion of the Speke Resort Convention Centre signals the Government’s commitment to promoting modern, tech-enabled event infrastructure alongside Uganda’s traditional tourism strengths.
Officials say Uganda’s participation is expected to unlock new business leads, attract high-value conferences, and strengthen partnerships with international event planners. The country is banking on its unique “business plus leisure” appeal—offering global delegates the ability to hold conferences in world-class venues and then explore iconic attractions such as gorilla trekking, national parks, and Lake Victoria.
With IBTM World hosting thousands of exhibitors and buyers from over 140 countries, Uganda’s showcase—led jointly by government agencies and private-sector giants like the Ruparelia Group marks a major step in elevating the country’s visibility in the global MICE industry.
