The Ruparelia Foundation has announced 100 Master’s Degree scholarships in honour of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, as part of efforts to continue his legacy of empowering young Ugandans through education.

The emotional announcement was made by Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and Mrs. Jyotsna Ruparelia during Victoria University’s 9th Graduation Ceremony, held at Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo, where over 2,000 students graduated in various disciplines.

The scholarships, dubbed the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Scholarship Programme, will support outstanding graduates who wish to pursue Master’s studies at Victoria University.

The initiative reflects the late Rajiv’s long-standing commitment to education and youth empowerment values that defined his philanthropic work and leadership within the Ruparelia Group and the university community.

“Rajiv believed deeply in giving young people the opportunity to study, grow, and lead,” said Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia in his brief but heartfelt address. “Through these scholarships, we want to keep his spirit alive by supporting the dreams of bright and hardworking Ugandans.”

The announcement drew emotional applause from graduates, parents, and university staff who remembered Rajiv as a visionary leader passionate about mentorship, innovation, and access to education.

University officials hailed the Ruparelia Foundation’s continued partnership, noting that the scholarships will not only honour Rajiv’s legacy but also help nurture the next generation of change-makers.

Rajiv had previously extended bursaries to many students at Victoria University, personally mentoring several of them. His parents’ decision to institutionalize the gesture through 100 Master’s scholarships ensures that his dream of transforming lives through education will continue to inspire for years to come.

The 9th graduation ceremony was attended by thousands of guests, with Victoria University reaffirming its commitment to producing skilled, innovative, and socially responsible graduates ready to shape the future of Uganda and beyond.
