Reports emerging on Saturday evening indicate that Maj Gen Steven Sabiiti Muzeeyi, the former Deputy Inspector General of Police and current General Manager of Luwero Industries, has been involved in a serious road accident.
According to reports the accident occurred while the senior army officer was driving himself.
Details about the exact location and cause of the crash remain scanty, but initial accounts suggest that he sustained severe injuries. He has been rushed to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he is said to be in critical condition.
Hospital authorities and security officials have not yet issued an official statement on his status.
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Police are also yet to release any communication regarding the incident.
Maj Gen Sabiiti is well known for his service in the Special Forces Command and his tenure as Deputy Inspector General of Police between 2018 and 2020. He has been at the helm of Luwero Industries, a subsidiary of the National Enterprise Corporation, since early 2021.
