Residents of Buloba were left in shock after Police recovered a wooden box containing what are suspected to be human body parts along the Manja–Muzinda road in Buloba swamp.
According to Nsangi Police Division, the grisly discovery was first made on September 10, 2025, when Musoke William, a bricklayer, spotted the locked wooden box at around 11:10 a.m.
Despite the shocking find, the incident was only reported to Nsangi Police later that evening at 7:30 p.m.
A team of detectives and scene of crime officers immediately visited the site.
The box was retrieved and transferred to Mulago City Mortuary, where forensic experts are conducting a postmortem examination to confirm whether the remains are human and to establish the cause of death.
Police say preliminary findings suggest a suspected murder, as the remains appeared to have been cut into pieces before being dumped in the swamp.
“This is a deeply disturbing incident. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the victim and circumstances under which this crime was committed,” said Patrick Onyango the KMP spokesperson.
Authorities have now appealed to the public, particularly those with missing relatives or acquaintances, to visit Mulago City Mortuary and assist in identifying the victim.
Police noted that identification of the body is a crucial step in advancing investigations, as it could help track down potential suspects or persons connected to the gruesome act.
The discovery has sparked fear among residents in the area, with many calling on authorities to increase patrols and ensure better security around Buloba swamp and isolated roads.
