Police commando Musa Walugembe found Dead in his Najjanankumbi home

RIP; Walugembe

Shock has gripped the Uganda Police Force following the sudden death of SP Musa Walugembe, a senior officer attached to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CI), Political Intelligence Unit.

Walugembe, widely known as a police commando and a prince from Nakifuma in Buganda, reportedly went to bed on Monday night at his home in Najjanankumbi but failed to wake up on Tuesday.

Friends who had tried to reach him throughout the day later forced open his door on Tuesday evening and found him dead.

The cause of death remains unknown.

Walugembe made a name for himself during the Walk-to-Work and A4C riots led by opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye, where he and his unit played a central role in intelligence operations and containing violent unrest.

His work in political intelligence earned him recognition as a tough but disciplined officer who combined courage with a calm demeanor.

In his condolence message, the Minister of Youth, Hon. Balaam Barugahare, described Walugembe as “a patriotic and dedicated officer, a man of unwavering integrity, admired for his kindness, humility, and trustworthiness throughout his service.”

He added that beyond being a distinguished officer, Walugembe was a Buganda prince whose loyalty and service to Uganda would never be forgotten.

“Uganda has lost a brave soul who served with honor, dedication, and a deep sense of duty,” Balaam noted.

Colleagues and friends have also remembered Walugembe as a man of integrity, humility, and loyalty, whose service to the nation left a lasting impression.

His passing marks the end of a career defined by dedication to the force and to Uganda. Investigations into the exact cause of death are underway.
