The much-anticipated World of Sounds concert series has added another major act to its star-studded lineup, confirming renowned RnB disc spinner DJ Akio Kawahito as one of the support acts for the second edition.
Set for August 29, 2025, at the Sheraton Hotel Gardens in Kampala, the R&B Edition of World of Sounds Season 2 will be headlined by British R&B legend Craig David, performing live in Uganda for the very first time.
DJ Akio, an R&B DJ, event organizer, and creative director, is celebrated for his R&B party series and inclusive youth-driven community projects across Africa. He will not only perform at the main event but also curate a new fan engagement segment, Jukebox, and headline the official After Party, R&B and Slow Jams, at Noni Vie Parking.
“World of Sounds Season 2: RnB Edition is not just a concert—it’s a celebration of rhythm, soul, and artistic fusion,” said Producer Bushington, the event’s organiser.
The show promises an unforgettable night of soulful melodies, immersive art, and rich cultural expression, featuring a lineup of Uganda’s greatest R&B acts including Kenneth Mugabi, Benon & Vampos, Steve Keys, Irene Ntale, Naava Gray, Juliana Kanyomozi, Unknown Prosper, and Laika Music.
DJ Akio brings global experience and cultural diversity to the stage, with roots in Japan and the Netherlands and a career that began in hip-hop before transitioning into R&B. Known for blending slow jams, dancehall, Amapiano, Afro House, and uptempo grooves, Akio has carved a reputation for building energy and connecting deeply with audiences.
The inaugural World of Sounds debuted on October 6, 2023, at the Kampala Serena Hotel, drawing wide acclaim. With Craig David headlining and DJ Akio introducing fresh experiences, this year’s edition is set to be one of Uganda’s biggest music events of 2025.
