Gen. Damulira breaks Silence on fugitive Don Chris

Don Chris is wanted

The Director of Crime Intelligence in the Uganda Police Force, Maj. Gen. Christopher Damulira, has strongly warned fugitive visa scam suspect Christian Asiimwe alias Don Chris against spreading falsehoods and blackmailing security officials to cover his tracks.

This comes after Don Chris, who is wanted for allegedly defrauding over 350 Ugandans through a fake job placement scheme, claimed in a video that he had been granted personal protection by operatives from the Police Crime Intelligence unit — a claim Gen. Damulira has flatly denied.

“Yesterday, another story came up, this time from someone I had never heard about! That he is called Don Chris. I don’t know him. I have never met him. I have never spoken to him,” Damulira said in a public statement.

The police chief clarified that the Crime Intelligence (CI) department does not guard individuals, and its mandate has nothing to do with offering personal security.

“He claims that he had CI security, which is 100% false. CI doesn’t guard people. Our mandate is different and very clear. Whatever was said in the video about me is totally false and concocted.”

Don Chris, through his company Skypins Tours & Travel, is accused of swindling approximately UGX 1.4 billion from job seekers by promising them opportunities abroad in countries like Canada, the UK, and Dubai. He fled Uganda on June 20, reportedly through the Malaba border, and has since gone into hiding.

Gen. Damulira suggested that Don Chris may be invoking his name as a desperate attempt to provoke an arrest that could help him fabricate grounds for political asylum abroad.

“Someone told me this morning that Don Chris could have introduced my name in his game so that I react by looking for him for arrest — so that he justifies his alleged quest for asylum wherever he is.”

He urged those close to Don Chris to advise him to return and face justice instead of digging himself into deeper legal trouble.

“Those who know and love him should advise him to return and face justice. Otherwise, he is exacerbating his situation by blackmailing innocent people.”
