The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has released district, county/division, and subcounty/town council statistics from the 2024 National Population and Housing Census (NPHC). The data, which provides detailed baseline information up to the parish level, is crucial for planning, localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and effective implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).
The area profiles, clustered by sub-region, are now available on the UBOS website. According to Chris N. Mukiza, Executive Director of UBOS, the release of this data is part of the bureau’s efforts to support evidence-based planning, policy, and decision-making.
The 2024 NPHC was conducted in May 2024, and the Final Report (Volume 1) was published on December 31, 2024. UBOS plans to publish more thematic reports (monographs) in the coming period to further support development initiatives.
The release of this data is expected to inform planning and decision-making at various levels of government, enabling more targeted interventions and resource allocation. By providing access to detailed statistics, UBOS aims to empower stakeholders to drive development and achieve the SDGs.
