Dedan Mubangizi, a renowned businessman, philanthropist, and community mobilizer, has today picked up nomination forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) headquarters in Kyadondo, Kampala, officially declaring his intention to contest for the Buwekula South parliamentary seat in Mubende District ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Mubangizi, whose grassroots support continues to grow, said his decision to join the race stems from a deep commitment to address the pressing challenges facing the people of Buwekula South.
Speaking to the media shortly after receiving his nomination forms, he highlighted his priority areas as health, education, and wealth creation.
“Our people are suffering due to inadequate access to clean water, poor health services, and limited economic opportunities. My mission is to bring practical, sustainable solutions to these challenges,” he said.
Over the past two years, Mubangizi has demonstrated strong leadership and a results-driven approach through a series of impactful community interventions, which many say set him apart from the typical politician.
In July 2024, he organized a three-day free medical camp in Kibyamirizi parish that provided health services to more than 10,000 residents. The camp addressed various conditions, including eye and dental issues, and offered free consultations, medications, and general check-ups. As part of his health drive, Mubangizi donated a modern ultrasound scan machine, patient beds, and a delivery bed to Kitenga Health Center III. In addition, he provided a fully equipped ambulance and CT scan equipment to the Health Center IV, significantly boosting healthcare access in the area.

In the education sector, Mubangizi led a major fundraising campaign in November 2024 to construct St. Mark Kayebe Secondary School, the only secondary school in Kayebe parish. The drive raised UGX 120 million, with Mubangizi contributing UGX 10 million himself. The school not only serves as a center for learning but also doubles as a place of worship for the community.
He has also invested in youth development, organizing a football tournament earlier in 2024 that brought together youth from across the constituency. The winning teams were rewarded with livestock—an innovative approach that blended recreation with economic empowerment.
With this track record, Mubangizi’s campaign is gaining momentum, especially among youth, women, and rural farmers. His supporters describe him as a servant leader whose actions speak louder than political promises.
“We need a leader who acts even before he is elected. Mubangizi has been delivering where others have only talked,” remarked a resident of Buwekula South during a recent community meeting.
As the 2026 elections draw closer, Mubangizi is positioning himself not just as a political aspirant, but as a reformer with a deep understanding of the needs of his people. His message resonates with a constituency that yearns for transformative leadership rooted in compassion, integrity, and tangible results.
