The Display of the National Voters Register across Uganda is scheduled to end on Thursday, 15th May 2025.
The exercise, which began on 25th April 2025, has been conducted by the Electoral Commission in preparation for the 2025–2026 General Elections, in line with Section 26 of the Electoral Commission Act (Cap 176).
The display runs daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, including weekends, at all polling stations countrywide.
The exercise is intended to give voters an opportunity to verify their details on the register and report any inaccuracies.
According to the Electoral Commission, the purpose of the display is to allow voters to check the correctness of their particulars, ensure their photographs match their details, raise objections to wrongful entries, and report the names of persons who should not appear on the register.
This includes deceased individuals, persons under 18 years of age, those who do not belong to the parish they are registered in, and duplicate entries.
Eligible voters who applied but do not find their names on the register are allowed to present their case for inclusion during the exercise. The Commission has called upon all citizens and stakeholders to take part in the verification process.
After the conclusion of the display on 15th May, a supplementary display of names recommended for deletion will follow from 16th to 26th May 2025 at respective Parish or Ward Headquarters.
This phase will enable those who may have been wrongly recommended for deletion to object before the Parish/Ward Tribunal.
The Parish/Ward Tribunal, appointed by the Magistrate of the area, comprises two elders aged 60 and above (one male and one female) and three other members nominated in consultation with political parties in the area. The tribunal is responsible for making final decisions on objections and corrections raised during the display.
No fresh applications for registration or transfer of polling stations are being accepted during the ongoing display period. Display Officers are present at each polling station throughout the exercise to assist voters in locating their polling stations, especially where changes have occurred due to re-organization.
All complaints arising from the exercise are to be addressed to the Returning Officers in the respective Electoral Districts and handled according to Article 61(1)(f) of the Constitution and Section 15 of the Electoral Commission Act.
The Electoral Commission has emphasized that the display exercise is a vital step in ensuring accurate voter information ahead of the general elections.
