Prominent Ugandan media personality and sports administrator Cedric Babu Ndilima is currently hospitalized in critical condition after collapsing in Kigali, Rwanda few days ago.
Cedric had accompanied his son, a rising tennis star Cillian Asante Ndilima, for a tournament.
Cedric was swiftly airlifted to the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where he remains under intensive care.
Sources close to the family reveal that he was diagnosed with a serious heart condition shortly after his arrival at the facility.
While no official statement has been issued by the family, reliable information indicates that preparations are already underway to evacuate him to India for specialized medical treatment.
Cedric Babu, a former Davis Cup player and President of the Uganda Tennis Association, is not only known for his contribution to Ugandan sports but also for his influence in media and politics.
He once hosted the popular “Cedric Live Show” on UBC and has been involved in several high-profile productions, including the acclaimed local drama Beneath the Lies. In 2021, he contested for the Kampala Central parliamentary seat under the NRM ticket.
He hails from a distinguished family—his father, Francis Babu, is a former minister, and his mother, Olive Zaitun Kigongo, is a renowned businesswoman and the CEO of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI).
UNCCI is the oldest nation-wide umbrella organization for the private sector in Uganda, tasked with promoting and protecting the interests of the country’s business community.
Cedric has recently devoted much of his time to supporting the budding tennis career of his son, Cillian, who is training at the prestigious Evert Tennis Academy in the United States.
We wish him a swift and full recovery.
