Hon Mike Mukula, the proprietor of Arrow Security Systems Limited, has announced the death of retired Assistant Commmissoner of Police (ACP) Sam Omara.
Omara passed away on Monday morning at Mulago Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Mukula conveyed the heartbreaking news:
“Arrow Security Systems LTD with deep sorrow announce the death of our Director Operations and Deputy CEO Sam Omara (RIP), retired at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP). He has just passed on in Mulago Hospital at 7 am after a long struggle with cancer,” the post read.
Sam Omara, a well-known figure in Uganda’s security circles, was a key player in law enforcement during his time in the Uganda Police Force.
He notably served as Kampala North Police Operations Commander, where he was prominently involved in managing political protests, including the famous 2011 “walk-to-work” demonstrations led by opposition figures.
Following his retirement from the police, Omara transitioned into the private security sector, taking up a senior leadership role at Arrow Security Systems Limited, where he served as Director of Operations and Deputy CEO.
In recent months, Omara’s health had deteriorated significantly. He was first diagnosed with kidney failure and later battled cancer.
His family had earlier appealed for public prayers, and Omara himself reportedly expressed a heartfelt apology to anyone he may have wronged during his years of public service.
Burial arrangements and an official program are expected to be announced by the family and Arrow Security Systems Limited in due course.
