Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga has officially been assigned duties as the Acting Principal Judge of the Courts of Judicature, following the elevation of Hon. Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija to the position of Deputy Chief Justice.
The appointment was announced by the Hon. Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny–Dollo, who made the assignment under Article 133 of the Constitution and Section 3(a) of the Administration of the Judiciary Act.
In her new role, Lady Justice Kajuga will support the Chief Justice in the continued delivery of justice and ensure efficient management of the High Court and subordinate courts across the country. She will serve in this capacity until a substantive Principal Judge is officially appointed.

Lady Justice Kajuga brings to the role a wealth of experience and an impressive track record. She was appointed to the High Court in 2019 and has since served in the Anti-Corruption Division, where she is currently the Deputy Head. Her career has been marked by her firm handling of complex and high-profile corruption cases.
In 2020, she was appointed Focal Judge for the Judiciary’s Plea Bargain programme—a role in which she has been instrumental in transforming criminal justice through expedited, cost-effective, and participatory case resolution methods. Justice Kajuga also plays a key role in promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution and serves as a court-accredited mediator in the Family Division of the High Court.
Prior to her appointment to the Bench, she dedicated 20 years to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where she rose to become the Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, overseeing international cooperation, extraditions, and mutual legal assistance.
Justice Kajuga’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the Judiciary, which is undergoing reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery and restoring public trust in the justice system.
