The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) has launched the 9th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025, alongside the “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign.

Scheduled to take place from May 21 to 24, 2025, at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala, the expo aims to bring together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors, and media representatives to showcase Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings. Permanent Secretary Ms. Doreen Katusiime announced the event at the launch in Munyonyo.

Organized in collaboration with tourism sector agencies, including the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute, Uganda Museum, and Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, the expo will highlight Uganda’s unique attractions and boost its visibility on the global tourism map.

The “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign encourages Ugandans to share their tourism experiences through videos, photos, and written content, aiming to promote domestic tourism and celebrate Uganda’s scenic landscapes and cultural heritage.

POATE is an annual flagship event designed to position Uganda as a top global tourism destination. The 2025 edition is expected to attract 70 international buyers, over 5,000 trade visitors, and a diverse range of exhibitors from around the world.

The expo will feature Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) interactions, offering valuable networking and investment opportunities. This year’s event will also emphasize the growing significance of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, reflecting global travel and hospitality trends.
