In a decisive move to combat corruption within local government ranks, His Excellency President Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to revoke police bonds granted to officials implicated in corrupt practices related to the Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries in the Lango sub-region.
The directive, announced via the President’s official Twitter (X) account, underscores his unwavering commitment to ensuring that public officials uphold their responsibilities with integrity and in the best interest of Ugandan citizens.
This bold action follows President Museveni’s recent visit to the Lango sub-region, where he was briefed on alarming cases of corruption. A report authored by the late Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka (RIP), dated January 25, 2025, detailed widespread extortion of funds meant for PDM beneficiaries by corrupt local officials. The revelations prompted swift action from the President, who emphasized the importance of accountability within government structures.
“Any official who does not do their duty in prosecuting those thieves (suspected) will be held accountable,” declared President Museveni, sending a stern warning to both perpetrators and negligent law enforcement officers.
The President’s directive aims to restore public confidence in governance, protect the rights of PDM beneficiaries, and reinforce the government’s steadfast stance against corruption.
