In a major diplomatic development, the Uganda High Commission in Nigeria has announced the completion and handover of the Uganda House Abuja Complex. The project, which began in July 2022, will be officially received by the Ugandan government on October 31, 2024.
Located in the diplomatic zone of Abuja’s Central Business District, the complex is a major milestone in Uganda’s efforts to strengthen its political, economic, and cultural presence in Nigeria and across West Africa.
Uganda House consists of an office block, a consular house, and four residential apartments, all designed to serve as a base for Uganda’s diplomatic mission in Nigeria, while also promoting Ugandan interests in 15 other West African countries where Uganda is accredited.
The Uganda House Abuja project is entirely funded by the Government of Uganda and was built by M/S Lubell Nigeria Ltd under the supervision of Desserect Nigeria Ltd.
A Contract Management Team (CMT) comprising officers from Uganda’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Works and Transport, and Justice and Constitutional Affairs managed the project.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria provided prime land in Abuja’s Diplomatic Zone for the development, highlighting the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

The completion of this complex coincides with another landmark for Uganda–the launch of direct passenger flights by Uganda Airlines between Entebbe and Abuja.
The inaugural flight is set for September 12, 2024, less than a year after the opening of the Entebbe-Lagos route, further demonstrating the growing interaction between Uganda and Nigeria.
The Uganda House Abuja Complex is expected to enhance diplomatic ties and promote greater economic and cultural collaboration between the two countries.
