Priest implicated in Murder of URA official was Dismissed from Church for stealing Shs.6m offertory

Father Dominic Alinga has been arrested

Father Dominic Alinga, a priest recently suspended from the Catholic parish church of Irir in Nakapiripirit for allegedly stealing offertory worth six million Ugandan shillings, has been arrested in connection with the murder of John Bosco Ngorok, an employee of the Uganda Revenue Authority’s Domestic Tax Department.

In the early hours of August 3, Ngorok was found with fatal stab wounds to the neck and head along the road from Kitooro to Entebbe International Airport.

Despite being rushed to a Grade B hospital by Police, he was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

The police immediately launched an investigation to track down the assailant.

Killed: John Bosco Ngorok

The investigation gained significant traction when police obtained critical evidence from messages exchanged by friends and colleagues of Ngorok.

These messages revealed that Ngorok had been in conflict with Alinga, who had allegedly conned him out of seven million shillings.

Some whatsapp messages stated that Ngorok had been investigating a priest who had taken his money and had promised to repay it.

The priest borrowed about shs 11 million from the deceased but refused to pay back, instead opted to take his life.

This revelation, combined with eyewitness accounts and Ngorok’s last words implicating Alinga, led to the priest’s arrest.

Uganda Police are thoroughly investigating Alinga’s connection to the murder, aiming to establish a clear motive and the exact sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.

Authorities will decide the appropriate legal actions upon the investigation’s completion and whether Alinga will be arraigned in court.

The Police urge the public to remain calm as they continue to work diligently to uncover the truth and ensure justice for Ngorok John Bosco.
