Museveni: Those fighting Speaker Among work for Homosexuals

President Yoweri Museveni has Saturday commissioned Speaker Anita Among's hospital in Bukedea

President Yoweri Museveni has lauded Speaker Anita Among for being an active, developmental and innovative leader.

Museveni said this while officially opening Bukedea Teaching Hospital that was constructed by Speaker Among, with the intent to provide quality and affordable healthcare for the people of Teso and neighboring districts.

“I congratulate my daughter [Among] for being such an active young person in helping her people. She built the school, then the hospital and the school of nursing and paramedical studies,” Museveni said.

Museveni said that Among is not only innovative but a good listener. He commended her for investing in what he termed as an imaginative project.

“She is a good planner; she constructed a school [Bukedea Comprehensive School] to provide the very much sought after quality education. Now the money she gets from the school is what she used to build the hospital which also provides healthcare and another school which trains nurses,” he said.

He added,” She has really changed this place. She has added value to the land that I gave her.”

In his speech, the President took time to rap all those attacking the Speaker labelling them agents of homosexuals and imperialists.

“People like [Speaker] Anita Among are not the problem. The real problem we have is the traitors working for foreigners. They are not mistake makers but outright traitors working for wrong foreigners like homosexuals and imperialists. How can you talk so much on social media about Anita Among instead of those traitors? I’m getting intelligence and we’re going to expose those traitors,” Museveni said.

“I have been hearing people attacking Anita Among and some other MPs. Many of these young MPs are learners direct from university… sometimes, they maybe excited and get loans, debts …or make mistakes. But within NRM, we always see how to help our people out of their mistakes.”

“I want to thank Anita Among and other progressive leaders for deepening the message of the NRM. Such leaders are akin to the system of religion, whereby if the Pope was all alone without bishops , priests and a support system, how then would the the WORD reach the grassroot Christian ? That’s what good leaders do for the NRM. Anita brought me many opposition groups. On separation of powers, Anita Among knows how well to work closely with the system, that’s why you rarely hear standoffs and I really want to salute her for that. Whatever she doesn’t know, I will tell her. There’s no reason to (crucify) her in the social media. There’s something wrong with those fighting her.”

Museveni also commissioned Bukedea College of Health Science, another school owned by the Speaker that offers professional health training for paramedical students.

Speaker Among thanked the President for providing the financial support to enable the construction of the hospital.

In 2017, President Museveni laid a foundation stone for the construction of the hospital, having offered land for the same. The land initially belonged to Bukedea District Local Government and had remained undeveloped.

Since then, construction has been ongoing until January 2024 when the hospital started operations.

Bukedea Teaching Hospital has so far handled more than 2,000 patients.
