In a somber turn of events, Adam Mulwana, the talented singer renowned for his Toka Kwabalabala song and a staunch supporter of Dr. Kizza Besigye, breathed his last at Doctor’s Hospital in Seguku, Kampala, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
The news comes after Mulwana publicly disclosed his battle with liver complications last year, claiming that he had been poisoned, resulting in severe damage to his liver.
Mulwana, who played a pivotal role in Dr. Kizza Besigye’s 2016 campaigns by composing the popular song “Toka Kwa Balabala,” which became synonymous with the campaign, had been facing a challenging health journey.
Despite the gravity of his situation, doctors assured Mulwana that efforts could still be made to save him.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, contributed shs 10 million towards his medical expenses, demonstrating a collective effort to support the ailing singer.
Tragically, despite the best efforts, Adam Mulwana succumbed to his illness and was pronounced dead this morning, marking the end of a prolonged battle with health issues that saw him lose a significant amount of weight.
Last year, Mulwana made shocking revelations, alleging that he was poisoned by a lady disguised as his fan from the United States. The lady reportedly met him at a restaurant, treated him to pizza, and handed him USD 300 as a token of appreciation for his music. However, Mulwana’s health took a drastic turn for the worse after this encounter.
During his challenging period, singer Hajji Haruna Mubiiru took on the responsibility of caring for Mulwana, providing financial support for rent and medical needs. Hon. Mohammad Nsereko and Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among also intervened, contributing funds for his treatment in Kenya, with plans for further medical assistance overseas if needed.
Adam Mulwana’s untimely demise marks the end of a chapter in the Ugandan music and political landscape.
His legacy lives on through his impactful contribution to Dr. Kizza Besigye’s campaigns and the iconic “Toka Kwa Balabala” song, but his passing leaves a void in the hearts of his supporters.
