Oscar Industries Limited’s CEO, Mohan Musisi Kiwanuka, finds himself in a critical health condition battling Alzheimer’s disease, with his memory loss exacerbating over time.
Despite the severity of his ailment, Mohan is reportedly receiving care at home due to resistance from his wife, Maria Kiwanuka, against transferring him abroad, particularly to the United Kingdom, for advanced medical treatment.
Insiders suggest that Mohan’s health took a downturn late last year, rendering him unable to manage his personal affairs.
The situation has escalated into a family dispute, with Maria and her son, Eddin Musisi Kiwanuka, assuming powers of attorney to control Mohan’s extensive business empire.
This power shift has led to conflicts within the family, especially involving Mohan’s first wife, Beatrice Kavuma Kiwanuka, and her children.
Sources, opting for anonymity, reveal that Mohan’s sisters, Jalia Muwanga and Yudaya Nsereko, assert that Maria has neglected Mohan’s deteriorating mental health.
Yudaya, a retired certified Dementia caregiver, discloses that Maria resisted necessary treatment when Mohan’s Alzheimer’s was diagnosed during a medical check-up in the United Kingdom in 2017.
Upon Yudaya’s return to Uganda in 2019, she discovered Mohan’s worsening condition amid family disputes.
“During the time I spent with my brother on those visits, I realized that he needed help completing basic tasks like eating, dressing up, walking, going to the toilet, among others,” Yudaya confessed.
“My sisters and I did our best to cheer him up by taking him out in the compound for walks, telling him stories from our childhood, and listening to his stories as well as feeding him. We were his primary caregivers.”
The family accuses Maria of neglect, alleging that she spends minimal time at home and fails to ensure Mohan receives consistent medication. Despite these family tensions, Maria, with legal assistance, acquired powers of attorney to manage Mohan’s business empire. However, allegations of manipulation and the use of fake documents surround this move, intensifying the legal battles.
This family conflict has broader implications, involving Mohan’s extensive business holdings, comprising 32 companies and numerous properties.
The struggle for control over the empire continues, marked by legal disputes and accusations of exploiting Mohan’s mental state for personal gain.
The outcome remains uncertain as the family grapples with the complex dynamics of business, health, and familial relationships.
