In a chilling development, Tricia Katanga, the daughter of Henry Katanga has been arrested and detained by Uganda Police in the ongoing murder investigation of her father.
Mr Katanga was shot and killed on the morning of November 2, at his residence in Mbuya, a high-end Kampala suburb.
Initial reports suggested a possible domestic brawl with his wife Molly Katanga which resulted into the shooting and subsequent death of Katanga, a prominent businessman.
Tricia, who was present when the shooting took place at their home, told the Police that her father and mother fell into a misunderstanding, and she later heard a gunshot. As she rushed to the bedroom, she found her mother unconscious and her father lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
It must be noted that Tricia stays with her husband in Bugolobi, a stone-throw away from Mbuya Hill and she had been called to her home after a quarrel between her parents erupted.
However, as investigators delve deeper into the case, suspicion has turned towards the family dynamics.
Investigators are grappling to establish who exactly pulled a trigger that ended Katanga’s life.
Furthermore, investigators are now confronted with the unsettling revelation that the alleged perpetrator might be someone from within the victim’s own household. Authorities, citing the sensitive nature of the investigation, have refrained from disclosing specific details but assured the public that they are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Three people have so far been arrested.
A shamba boy, a family doctor who was invited to manage the body of Katanga before Police arrived and Tricia who allegedly instructed the shamba boy to clean up the blood that had spilled in the house.
This website has learned that Tricia was arrested on Saturday evening and is detained at Jinja Road Police Station as investigations continue.
It is no longer a public secret that Tricia Katanga is not a biological daughter of the deceased.
No Police officials are willing to speak about the murder probe.
