Henry Katanga, a prominent businessman who was shot and killed inside his bedroom following a domestic brawl with his wife Molly Katanga last Thursday had secretly written a WILL just seven days before the tragedy.
The unfinished WILL, Katanga, had hidden it in a safe box in his office and he was moving with the key.
Only three people knew about the incomplete WILL; the deceased Henry Katanga, his lawyer and his sister Naome Nyangweso.
The above allegations came to light on Sunday during the burial as Naome Nyangweso, a blood sister who claims they were so close eulogised the deceased.
Naome, a highly trained and sophisticated security agent who served in Iddi Amin’s most dreaded Nakasero State Research Bureau, told mourners at their native home in Kariro Nyabushozi that Katanga had a secret phone which he would use in case he wanted to speak to her.
“He bought me a second phone and he also had another phone only known to me and no one else,” she said.
Naome revealed how seven days prior to the brutal murder of Katanga, had met him twice (on Friday and Monday) and he had warned her to distance herself from his wife Molly because “she is very dangerous,” said Naome while speaking local language Runyankore.
“I am going to speak these words as said to me by the deceased. I say these words while fearing God because I don’t intend to add any single word and I won’t lie,” she said.
Naome was recorded as she eulogized Katanga and her audio has since gone viral on internet.
“He called me on Friday morning with a charged voice requesting to meet me. I couldn’t turn down because being a soft spoken person I have known, I was shocked to hear him raising his voice.”
“When we met he was seated in a special hire in the backseat. I entered and he ordered the driver to get out of the car. I inquired why he was using a special hire. He said they were trailing him. He said that Molly is very dangerous,” Naome said.
According to Naome, her brother declined to explain why he referred to his wife as dangerous.
“He simply asked me to keep quiet and distance myself from her.”
Katanga further implored his sister to exercise highest degree of caution while attending the wedding of her niece Tricia, Katanga and Molly’s daughter who was getting married the next day- Saturday.
She added that after the party, Katanga rang her on Sunday and asked if she had noticed individuals who were seated near her, “He said those are the ones.”
If Naome’s narrative is correct, it could shed light on the circumstance surrounding Katanga’s death.
Tricia who resides in Bugolobi just a stone throw away from her parents’ house in Mbuya Hill was however, present at the time her dad was shot.
She told Police how the two got a misunderstanding before she had a loud bang only to find her mum unconscious and her dad lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
Police said Molly was evacuated to hospital before its investigators arrived at the crime scene.
At the time of burial, family, maintained Molly remained unconscious in ICU at IHK hospital in Kampala.
Her health status has since been kept a top secret. It remains unknown if she is still in ICU, out of danger or discharged.
It also remains unknown if indeed it is true she has been in coma.
A close family friend Gen Sam Kavuma had Friday asked mourners to desist from speculation that Molly had killed her husband because what could have transpired between two lovers who had been together for over 30 years, only Molly would tell what happened once she stabilizes.
Suicide?
Naome, given her experience in security, ruled out suicide saying her brother was right-handed and the bullet wounds were on the left side of the head and the thigh.
“I went to the mortuary with a purpose. I wanted to see the bullet wounds and I saw. There is no way that could have been suicide. It is disheartening that the media reported how Henry returned home in the morning, drunk and shot himself,” she condemned media.
The first narrative carried by the major media houses suggested that Katanga after a brawl with his wife, stabbed her with a sharp object on the head and she became unconscious. Thinking he had killed her, he also picked a gun and took his life.
To Naome, this version of the events is not only derogatory but also undermines the person of who Henry Katana was.
She told mourners that Katanga had processed a WILL which she had not gotten a chance to read. He was over protecting it since it had not been commissioned by Commissioner of Oaths.
Katanga an astute businessman had been taking care of many children who belonged to his dead siblings.
Following Katanga’s death, Naome remains the only surviving child of her mother out of 9.
Molly and Katanga have been running a multibillion procurement and supplies firm MERGE- whose top clients include Special Forces Command (SFC), UPDF, Uganda Police, Office of the Prime Minister, Civil Aviation Authority, State House, and among others.
They had amassed properties in and outside Kampala.
