It has been confirmed by Uganda Police that prominent Kampala businessman Henry Katanga has Thursday morning been shot dead inside his bedroom at his palatial residence in Mbuya, a city upscale suburb.
The scene of crime was immediately visited by various senior Police officers including Deputy IGP Maj Gen Katsigazi Tusiime.
According to a Police report seen by this website, the OC station of Bugolobi ASP Peter Ogwang received information regarding murder by shooting at Mbuya Hill, Nakawa Division in Kampala district at around 9am.
The Police officer then registered a murder case under vide SD ref: 21/02/11/2023 of Bugolobi Police Station.
Upon visiting the scene, Police recovered a body of a man identified as Henry Katanga soaked in a pool of blood in his master bedroom with a wound on the head resulting from a gunshot.
The deceased aged 61, was identified by his daughter Tricia who was also found at the residence.
Ms Tricia according to the report said that her father Henry Katanga first had a misunderstanding with her mother Molly Katanga and later she heard a gunshot in the bedroom.
She would later rush to the bedroom where she found her father leaning on the bed with blood coming out of his head and her mother lying on the ground unconscious.
Molly Katanga was rushed to IHK for treatment by the family members before arrival of Police.
A pistol no.UG 16222 00061 CZ99 COMPACT was recovered.
Some family members who were at the home at time of the incident were arrested.
Police is actively investigating how the shooting took place and who is responsible for causing death of the businessman.
Investigations into matter are still ongoing.
Katanga owned a procurement and supplies firm Merge Uganda Limited whose main clients are State House, SFC, Ministry of Defence, Uganda Police, Office of the Prime Minister, Civil Aviation Authority and many others.
