Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine known for his vocal criticism of the current government has been arrested and subsequently taken to his residence in Magere in Wakiso District by law enforcement authorities in a surprising turn of events today.
Bobi Wine was not allowed to access the immigrations offices but rather picked off the plane on the runway.
The vocal opposition leader was returning from an overseas trip and was on his way home when he was apprehended as his supporters waited anxiously on Entebbe Road.
His political party National Unity Platform (NUP) had announced a mega homecoming 1 million march on the streets on Kampala.
Instead of being taken to a Police station, he was transported to his residence, where he remains in custody at this time.
His arrest is shrouded in mystery, as authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the charges or reasons for his detention. This unconventional approach to his arrest has only deepened concerns about due process and transparency.
