I am not a Bootlicker, Amuriat tells Besigye

Amuriat vowed to take on Besigye in whatever circumstance

Patrick Oboi Amuriat, whom the Katonga group no longer recognizes as FDC president after replacing him with Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has opened a pandora box saying his crime is refusing to be a political stooge of his mentor Col Kizza Besigye.

Before the duo fell out, Amuriat addressed Kizza Besigye as “my godfather.”

Besigye spearheaded the overthrow of Amuriat on Tuesday after rallying delegates from across the country to convene in Kampala and reclaim FDC, which he says has been hijacked by the State.

Besigye accuses Amuriat and Hon Nandala Mafabi of receiving dirty money from President Yoweri Museveni.

After Tuesday’s coup at Katonga Road, Amuriat has vowed to take on Besigye as an individual.

“I had a lot of respect for our founding president (Besigye) but I am a man who cannot be a bootlicker of anyone,” Amuriat said appearing KFM.

He added: “the code that brought us together as FDC has been broken today. We will take him on based on what he does. Maybe this is the time for us to part ways but as the leadership in Najjanankumbi, our wish is to unite.”

Amuriat, has since expressed ambition to seek a reelection as FDC president.

“You don’t try to stage a coup against leaders. What they should be doing is coming to Najjanankumbi tomorrow and see how to throw us out through an election.”

The mainstream party will hold a legitimate delegates conference on October 6 to elect National Executive Members (NEC).

“For now, we are the FDC leadership until October 6. That National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and election will happen come rain or shine.” He declared.
