The African tradition contends that while away, in a foreign land, show kindness to particularly your kinsmen because you don’t know who could redeem your life while at your lowest.
But instead, Ugandans staying in United States of America are working tirelessly to fail each other, stepping foot in each other’s opportunity which they could instead use to transform their lives and those behind their back here in Uganda.
For example, this website has learnt that the U.S Department of State launched investigation into VISA application and acquisition by Ugandans after journalist Bahati Remmy unnecessarily blew a scenario out of proportion simply because “she aimed at hurting UNAA president (then)” because the two don’t see eye to eye.
Her actions according to sources in America aroused anger among Ugandans who have massively benefited from Henrietta Nairubi Wamala’s goodwill that Bahati has numerous times targeted.
Since 2019, when Henrietta expressed ambition to content for the presidency of Uganda North America Association (UNAA) she became a victim of a negative online campaign. The stories circulated were personal, about her life and family,” said a source accusing Remmy Bahati of spearheading the operation.
However, Henrietta won the presidency and served two terms until September 2023.
VISA
A source further revealed that Ugandans staying in America ‘eat themselves’ like grasshoppers in a calabash. “They don’t wish themselves well, how else would Bahati interest American Department of State officials to investigate a fellow Ugandan over acquisition of visa?” a source wondered.
This website has learnt that a UNAA president has a privilege to lobby for any Ugandan to acquire a visa swiftly if he or she is going to attend a UNAA convention.
And this was the case, last year when Henrietta called the Embassy in Uganda seeking to lobby for one of the MTN staff to have her visa processed before September much as she had been accorded an appointment in November by embassy officials at Nsambya in Kampala.
“Because MTN was a sponsor of the UNAA activity and the lady was going to present, Henrietta sought it wise to request the embassy to work on her visa early enough,” a source said.
But trouble would arise after Henrietta mistakenly posted details of the visa on a WhatsApp group of Ugandans living in Chicago.
“Her detractors shared screenshots of her message with Bahati who used it against her as evidence in the Department of State,” said a separate source.
American government has since probed many Ugandans and some of its officials at its embassy in Kampala over this minor visa matter.
TrumpetNews couldn’t independently verify allegations levelled against journalist Remmy Bahati.
UNWANTED
A video obtained by this website shows troubled Bahati being thrown out of UNAA meeting convened in Dallas, Texas last Saturday on September 2 to elect the new leaders of the association.
In the background, the participants speaking both vernacular (Luganda) and English without explaining her plight maintained that she must be thrown out while others defended her stay.
One of the participants said, “we have evidence, she wants to fail us.”
As security escorted her out of the room the audience cheered on.
Bahati works with John Jay College’s Office for the Advancement of Research as Research Communications Specialist. Previously she worked as a legal news assistant for Law360, monitoring Congress and federal and State courts across the United States. She also worked for the United Nations Secretariat in New York as a global communications fellow in the Department of Management, Strategy and Policy Compliance.
