16 people have been confirmed dead following a fatal accident that occurred in Kagadi district on Fort Portal- Kyenjojo highway.
According to daily monitor, the crash involving a taxi and a fuso truck happened on Sunday night at 8pm.
“The Fuso truck failed to brake and the driver lost control thus ramming into a taxi. We have so far counted 16 lifeless bodies including that of the taxi driver identified as Henry Acaali,” reports Daily Monitor after interviewing Mr Felix Amumpaire, an eyewitness.
The eyewitness said victims were mostly residents of Kagadi town council who were returning from a burial in Fort Portal.
About five injured persons were rushed to Muhorro Community Health Centre for medical attention.
Efforts by Police to identify the deceased as still ongoing as investigations into the matter continue.
Meanwhile, residents in the area have expressed concerns over frequent accidents that have happened at the same spot in the past few days.
