The President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been vetting potential candidates who should be appointed ministers while those deemed underperforming are shown the exit or transferred.
While vetting the candidates, the President rewards loyalty, hard work and ground home support of these potential Ministers or strategic appointments aiming at; let’s say weakening the opposition forces.
Lydia, has been loyal to the NRM and currently sits on the party’s highest decision making organ Central Executive Committee (CEC) as a leader of Women but has struggled to convince and garner home support from Bugisu which some pundits blame on her lukewarm mobilization skills and unending physical and legal fights with her in laws and immediate family members. Her diehard closed inner circle have however intimated that it is time for their candidate to eat and Mzee, as the President as he is commonly referred to has made a promise.
Nicknamed Big Sister, this website has learnt, Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, is likely to replace Justine Kasule Lumumba as Minister of General Duties or in the alternative be named the first ever Minister for Bugisu Affairs as the rumour mill has it that following landslides and many other calamities and problems, Bugisu is to be treated to a special slot in Cabinet.
On Wednesday 28th June 2023, Big Sister addressed a mammoth gathering of Muslims during Eid prayers and decried the poor leadership in Bugisu highlighting a supposed leadership vacuum that she is filling voluntarily as she explained and detailed her long itinerary that involved cancelling other National programs to run home to celebrate with her people.
Lydia Wanyoto Mutende alias Big Sister, has lost her bid for Mbale Woman MP to Connie Galiwango twice, in hotly contested races in 2016 and 2021.She has however kept her hopes high with glitches expected to come from her own blood sibling Irene Nangulu Wanyoto,Rita Namuwenge the National Coordinator of Emyooga ,Jalia Namasaba a business woman in Mbale; with an unknown position from the incumbent Hon.Connie Galiwango, who has kept playing ping pong on whether she will run in 2026 or not.
Big Sister as she is fondly referred to by her supporters, has held many positions in the NRM government including being a Board Member of the National Planning Authority, a Board Member of the African Peer Review Mechanism, among many others would therefore be expected to execute her duties with precision if the President appointed her; though her constituents claim there is nothing to show for all her access to the corridors of Power.
