After recovering from Coronavirus following 11 days of self isolation at Nakasero State House, President Yoweri Museveni doesn’t want to take any more chances again.

Knowing the danger he went through while treating the virus, Museveni has since ordered all staff that were around him to be quarantined for 14 days before they are tested.

It should be noted that State House workers who are always on duty are tested daily for Covid-19.

“The workers including chefs, secretaries, cleaners, media and others who were attending to him while he was self- isolating are the ones who have been quarantined,” said an official.

The idea is that Coronavirus incubates within two weeks before the person show symptoms which include cough, flue, fever and among others.

The staff that were off duty as the President received medical treatment have replaced those who attended to him but “have to be tested first. If you are positive you are also quarantined.”

On June 6 while addressing the nation, Museveni announced he had tested positive for Coronavirus, two days later he took leave of office to self isolate and treat the virus.

The President issued a number of health updates and what he was experiencing during his quarantine at Nakasero.

“ I noticed some mild flu-like symptoms in one of the nostrils (the right one). That is when I called my doctors to take samples and rule out Corona. They took three samples- one rapid and two PCRs. The rapid one was negative and so was one of the PCRs. However, one of the PCRs was positive”

“This time, the dull headache was not there, nor was the mild throbbing (enkuratima) on top of the head (oruhoora-hoore). Initially, on Wednesday, there was also some mild muscle soreness (kutonekara), typical of the usual flu. The soreness I was feeling on Wednesday was less than one would feel with the usual flu.”

11 days after, Museveni tested negative and left Nakasero for Entebbe State House.

“With a confirmed clean bill of health, I am now able to get back to physical meetings, starting with cabinet this afternoon at State House Entebbe Entebbe,” Museveni tweeted.

The Ministry of Health has reported an increase in Covid-19 infections from across the country.
