UPDATE: Death toll of Students Killed by ADF in Kasese rises to 41

ADF rebels attacked a private school in Kasese

The number of students killed by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Kasese on Friday night has risen to 41, reports indicate.

Earlier Police had reported that 25 had been killed, 8 injured and unconfirmed abducted. 

Fresh reports say 22 students were hacked in the attack while 17 died in a bomb blast which rebels left behind. 

The attack happened on Lhubirira Secondary School about 2 kms, from the DRC border. 

‘A dormitory was burnt and a food store looted. So far 25 bodies have been recovered from the school and transferred to Bwera Hospital. Also recovered are 8 victims, who remain in critical condition at Bwera Hospital,” a statement from Police indicates.

A hot pursuit by the UPDF and the Police is ongoing, towards Virunga National Park. 

“We do offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who have been killed, and offer our prayers and thoughts to those who have been wounded. More details will be availed in due course.” Police adds.
