Uganda Police is holding one of its own in connection to the murder of Ronnie Mukisa, a city lawyer who was gunned at his residence in Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo in Wakiso District a fortnight ago.
The 45-year-old lawyer was working at IBC Advocates located in Namanda Plaza, Kampala.
However, Law Society president Bernard Oundo would later clarify that the deceased was not a lawyer but a clerk having attained a diploma in law.
On the fateful night of May 30, at 11pm, Mukisa arrived the apartment and after parking his dark blue Subaru Legacy with registration number UBJ 006K, he proceeded to close the gate. It was during his return to the apartment that neighbours heard gunshots, prompting them to investigate the commotion.
Statements from eye witnesses have indicated that , an unidentified individual was seen shooting at Mr. Mukisa before briefly withdrawing, only to return and shoot him at close range multiple times in the head. The assailant quickly fled the scene and escaped on a waiting motorcycle.
A joint operation by Crime Intelligence and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) was launched to arrest the assailants.
On Sunday Police spokesperson Fred Enanga reported a breakthrough in the investigations indicating that 4 suspects had been apprehended.
“Yesterday, the Joint Security task team of CMI and Crime Intelligence, that has actively been investigating the violent murder of city lawyer, Mukisa Ronnie, of IBC Advocates, made a breakthrough and arrested 4 key suspects, who where involved in the planning and killing of the lawyer. Since the tragic murder, our joint task team has worked tirelessly to establish the killers. More details will be shared accordingly.” Enanga reported.
This website has learned that the deputy Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Kampala North SP Vincent Irama is among the key suspects.
He was arrested long with two other soldiers of UPDF.
Fred Enanga confirmed the arrest of the senior police officer saying he is currently detained at Kireka Special Investigations Division (SID).
