Security Guard found Dead in Lira town

David Ogolo was found seated lifless at his place of work

Police in Lira City is investigating circumstances leading to the death of David Ogolo, a 27-year-old security guard employed by PSG Security Company.

Ogolo who was on Thursday night assigned alone to guard Apwoyo Distribution Limited shop along Bala road in Lira-City was found dead on Friday morning, seated on a plastic chair with a severe cut wound around his neck.

Personal effects such as a motorcycle, mobile telephone and even the gun he was using to guard the area were all found next to his body.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying a team of detectives led by the OC Station visited the crime scene, thoroughly documented it, and collected the deceased’s body which has been taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.

He added that the case has been registered as suspected murder and investigations to ascertain the motive and apprehend the suspects has been launched.

Benson Ochol, a boda boda rider who knew the deceased described him as a jolly man who had no grudge against other people except his ex-girlfriend with whom they separated about a month ago.

“He used to be a very nice person but about a month ago he chased away his girlfriend to go back to their home but the girl who was already pregnant went straight to another man and that is when he started drinking but I honestly can’t tell why this happened to him.”

The incident comes barely a day after one Rogers Atuhaire, a guard attached to SGA Security Group on Thursday shot himself dead at Makwasi Building along Lumumba Avenue in Kampala City Centre.
