UPDF General, Muhoozi Kainerugaba is optimistic, his family will take a position on who stands for President between him and his father Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
For some time now, Muhoozi a battle-hardened and experienced combatant has exuded immense intentions of running for the highest office in the land, hinging on support of the youth while he faces stiff resistance from the old guard who still have hope in his father.
The ageing leaders serving in various positions of government including the military have since launched a country-wide crusade- dubbed “Mzee tova ku main” in which they ‘massage and praise’ Museveni as sober, able and strong who should be offered a 6th term.
Using Twitter to communicate with hundreds of thousands of his supporters, Muhoozi a former commander of the lethal unit of the army- SFC has categorically made it clear that time is up for the old people to handover leadership to the young generation.
Muhoozi cited examples of world leaders younger than him who are at the mantle of of Presidency.
Muhoozi, one of the most followed government official in Uganda, announced he would contest for 2026, but later erased the tweets.
His tweets sparked off a debate on whether Muhoozi was determined to compete against his father who remains tight-lipped about his next move.
Muhoozi, on Tuesday clarified to his fans of need to worry about 2026 because his family would vote to decide between the father and son.
“Our supporters countrywide should not worry about 2026. The House of Kaguta always take votes on important decisions. We are always unite,” Muhoozi tweeted.
His revelation triggered excitement among his followers who have widely shared the tweet across various online platforms.
