The Queen of Buganda has given hope to all single ladies that they still stand a chance to get married irrespective of their age.
The Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda Luswata stunned the nation with her revelation of accepting the King’s marriage proposal at 35.
At 35, one has crossed from youthfulness to elderly.
The two royals have since been married for 24 years, and Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi was 43 at the time.
Nabagereka is 60 while her husband is now 67.
She revealed a lot more of her love life in an autobiography which is set to be officially released on March 23.
In a sneak peek of her memoirs, her highness wrote how Kabaka Ronald Mutebi whom she addresses as “Ronnie” proposed through an email.
Appearing on NBSTV in an interview, Nabagereka added that he simply told her, “if you ready, I am ready.”
The widely watched interview attracted the attention of Uganda’s party -animals (being a Sunday they were home nursing terrible hangover) and most Kampala girls were glued on their TV sets since NBS had massively advertised the interview earlier.
Time check 9:40, the interview kicked off and lasted for over an hour with no major points made by the queen.
Only to unleash a bombshell that she accepted the Kabaka’s proposal and at 35.
The queen, unlike majority of the women in the world who find it scratchy to reveal their real age, didn’t have a problem with it. The revelation has since sparked off country-wide consolations among the ‘partying- class’ particularly single ladies.
They spent the whole Sunday night consoling each other how they will also get married irrespective of the age.
Quoting Nabagereka, now many believe that even in their late 30s they still have chances of receiving marriage proposals.
Kampala has a majority of ageing women as single mothers and slayer queens concentrated in particular suburbs of Kira, Najjera, Kisaasi and Kulambiro.
‘Slay queen’ is a slang used to describe women who like money but don’t want to work, they fancy lavish cars, sleep in magnificent apartments, always on a plane, they are informed on what’s happening on social media but are uniformed on current affairs. They party like there is no tomorrow, have sexual intercourse regularly but never give birth.
