Mbale City Land Board Chairman Paul Wanyoto has joined millions of young leaders across the country to pledge support and loyalty to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba if he steps up to vie for the highest office in the land.
The UPDF four star General was over the weekend hosted in Sebei and Bugisu before summing up the tour with a church service and St Andrews Cathedral in Mbale City and later shared a meal with the clergy, elders and other prominent Mbale leaders at a luncheon organised by MK army.
In his speech, Paul Wanyoto Mugoya said Muhoozi is a unifying factor which explains why several leaders irrespective of their political affiliations have joined the MK movement.
Wanyoto is an FDC member he contested for Mbale Northern city Division in the last general elections.
“I am here to thank our chief guest Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Presidential Advisor on Special Operations for allowing to come and share a word of God with us today,” Wanyoto a senior lawyer said in presence of Muhoozi.
Whereas the church most times guides politicians to usually desist from making political statements inside the church, Mr Wanyoto reminded men of God that from time immemorial temples have been full of politics and economics and politics is simply a contest of resources.
Against that backdrop he charmed the worshipers as he pledged to walk the Presidential Mile with Muhoozi when the time is due.
“I am FDC, Lydia my sister is an NRM CEC Member and we also have NUP friends The General MK Revolution is an all-encompassing Revolution. That is bringing together all Political shades,” he said throwing the church into thunderous applause.
He added: “When the General is done with the process of leaving the army and he considers standing for Presidency, I will support him.”
The presiding cleric Rev. Milton Shissa, the Vicar of Mbale archdiocese codenamed Muhoozi, biblical Jacob and implored the First Son to focus his leadership on God if he has chosen to follow his father’s footsteps.
