Constance Ntagwiriza, the mother of Patricia Arinda who was allegedly killed last Thursday by her cousin Suzan Kaitesi told mourners that several times her daughter said there were attempts to end her life.
As mother, she instead advised her daughter to pray over it reminding her that Kaitesi is a relative and both should love one another.
Patricia was buried on Sunday at her native home in Kabale.
Eulogizing her daughter, Constance said she was aware of the bad blood between Patricia and Kaitesi but as a parent she sat them down and counselled. “After that the two were friends.”
Speaking in Rukiga in an 18 minute audio, she said that last year on 5th May, Kaitesi attempted to poison Patricia as she the latter celebrated her birthday.
“My daughter told me that Kaitesi served her meat and after eating it the tongue swell and she immediately sought medical attention. When she called me I told her to instead pray over it and God would change Kaitesi,” she said in regret.
Constance also claimed that not far from the day she was killed, Patricia also called her and revealed that she met a man who alleged how Kaitesi paid him shs 500,000 to kill her.
“I couldn’t believe. My daughter said that the contracted killer gave her shs 30000 on the money he was paid,” she added.
Still the mother asked her daughter to go to Church and again pray for Kaitesi.
Constance regrets taking her daughter’s revelations lightly until she received the sad news of her death.
Kaitesi locked Patricia together with a man only identified as Kajumba in her apartment and set it ablaze.
She escaped with minor injuries.
It later emerged that Kajumba was Kaitesi’s lover and she suspected her cousin was sleeping with him.
Kaitesi remains in Kawempe Police detention, Patricia and Kajumba were buried, as investigation are ongoing.
