Speaker unveils Shs.1.2b Range Rover after Gifting hubby shs.800m Car

MPs lined up in the background to see the posh car

Despite a deepening economic collapse that has plunged Ugandans into profound hardship, a small section of the population is however becoming richer.

How else can one explain the purchase of a 2023 Range Rover Vogue valued at $400,000 approximately shs 1.2 billion.

The Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Annet Among unleashed the monster ride on Wednesday leaving fellow lawmakers and other top government officials speechless. The luxurious car has a personalised number plate with initials of  Speaker’s names AAA3.

“The car is like a human being. It talks and also listens to what you say,” an MP from Western Uganda was overheard telling friends at the Parliamentary canteen.

The Speaker is the only Ugandan driving this kind of a car currently.

Some of the specifications of this car are; it closes its own doors, can park itself, senses darkness and puts on lights and when it senses danger suppose it’s reversing and there is a ditch it will first warn before switching off engine.

Speaker Among’s new ride

Land Rover built this model of cars for British Royals for comfort and less engagement while driving.

That is why it doesn’t most of the things which a driver should have done. For example, the car can be locked in automation and it accelerates or reduces speed depending on the number of cars on the road.

To prove her financial muscle, the Speaker unveiled the ride a month after gifting her husband Moses Magogo same Range Rover but slightly an old model 2019 which costs roughly shs 800 million.

All this is happening as majority of Ugandans are not sure of their next meal.
