The Police at Kasangati Station is investigating the aggravated robbery of a firearm from a security guard belonging to GKO security company.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, the guard was waylaid on his way to work at around 7:30pm on Monday.
The unidentified criminals stabbed him in Magere Cell, Kasangati Town Council and made off with his rifle.
“Our team responded and took him to Mulago hospital for treatment while the search for the gun has commenced,” said Mr Owoyesigire.
Over the past one month, unknown gunmen have raided security installations and taken weapons, with the latest attack on UPDF barracks in Jinja where one soldier was killed and two guns taken.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has said these criminals targeting weapons and are part of the merging rebel movement with its bases in Luweero and Mityana.
