Kenya’s Chief Justice praises Bigirimana
When the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Martha Koome, was taken on a guided tour of the new Supreme Court and Court of Appeal premises at the Judiciary headquarters on Friday, she marvelled at the superstructures.
She commended the workmanship of the building and said it was truly a work of perfection.
“This is a job well done and the finishing speaks for itself,” she said.
Adding that, “well done for the great structures.”
The Kenyan Chief Justice, who was making her maiden visit to the Judiciary headquarters, promised Chief Justice, Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo, that at the commissioning of the buildings,  she would like to be part of the people to witness such a moment.
CJ Koome commended the Judiciary Accounting Officer, Dr Pius Bigirimana, for being vigilant and ensuring that there is value for taxpayers money.
She requested the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary to share the Ugandan experience with Kenya as they intend to embark on similar projects.
Dr Bigirimana said all the chambers are self-contained  and customized to ensure that the Justices have a great ambience as they administer justice.
He also graciously agreed to share experiences that have made the twin buildings a success story.
The Commissioner Engineering and Technical Services, Eng Dr Christopher Ebal, who is the programme manager for the appellate structures briefed the visiting Chief Justice of the amenities on the buildings which include customized courthouses with modern courtrooms, chambers for the justices, a gym and restaurant, underground parking for 226 cars, childcare centres, among others.
Justice Susan Abinyo and the Judiciary Technical Advisor, Prof Andrew Khaukha, took part in the exercise.
