After returning from Rwanda, UPDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has scoffed at everyone supportive of a decision to ban him from social media platform Twitter.
The four- star military officer serving as Presidential Advisor on special operations used the same platform to reassure Kenyans that not even his father- President Yoweri Museveni will stop him from using the social networking site.
Muhoozi in a tweet on Tuesday night wondered if it was a joke for some Kenyan journalists to approach his father asking him to ban him (Muhoozi) from Twitter.
“I hear some journalist from Kenya asked my father to ban me from Twitter? Is that some kind of joke??” the former SFC commander said.
In a strong worded tweet with bold letters, Muhoozi who served as Commander of Land Forces (CLF) until two weeks ago said no one will stop him.
“I am an adult and NO ONE will ban me from anything.” His assurance has already generated debate with hundreds his followers commenting others liking the tweet.
Muhoozi, two weeks ago in a what was perceived as banter, threatened to raid Kenya. His tweet sparked off anger and his father Yoweri Museveni would later apologise to Kenyans, remove him from CLF office but also promote him to full General.
Justifying the promotion, Museveni said Muhoozi is a good officer who still has potential to do good things. He added that he had agreed with his son to stop tweeting.
“Gen. Muhoozi will leave Twitter. We have had this discussion. Twitter, however, is not a problem. The problem is what you are tweeting. If he was tweeting about sports or topics that are not controversial, it wouldn’t be a problem,” Museveni said.
