Jinja NWSC boss in Critical Condition after Supporters of NRM poured Hot water on him in Seeta

Lawrence Bwire

Lawrence Bwire, is fighting for his life at Life Link hospital in Namugongo following an attack by supporters of a rival camp which lost an election last year.

This website learnt the incident occurred on Tuesday evening as Mr Bwire who is on leave picked an argument with a one Peter Hajusu at a communal drinking vessel (malwa pot) near his residence in Seeta, Bukerere, Mukono district.

Both Bwire and Hajusu hail from Samia- Bugwe Central constituency in Busia district, and in last year’s general elections, Bwire’s family resolved to support Denis Nyangweso who contested as an Independent candidate.

Nyangweso faced off with Richard Wanyama in NRM primaries but lost.

He however, returned to the ballot protesting against rigging.

And indeed he was declared winner of the Samia- Bugwe Central MP seat.

According to information gathered, this didn’t go down well with Wanyama’s camp who perceived the loss as betrayal.

Mr Hajusu, who exchanged bitterly with Bwire before the hot water attack was an agent of Wanyama.

Eyewitness says as both Bwire and Hajusu enjoyed the local brew, the former wondered why politics had turned into a matter of life and death.

Bwirethus, alleged that Wanyama’s camp had poisoned his big brother Joshua Ojambo who got treatment from Nakasero Hospital before he was referred to Agha Khan in Nairobi.

“This sparked off a fight and the people around intervened,” an eyewitness said.

Whereas Bwire stayed at the vessel enjoying the drink, Hajusu isolated himself.

In no minute, a boy charged with refilling the pot with hot water, directed the whole kettle on Bwire from the back and everyone scattered.

“All Bwire did was to cover his face with hands otherwise, he wouldn’t have eyes by now,” an eyewitness adds.

The boy upon completing the mission took off.

Bwire had not exchanged a single word with the boy prompting people who were around to conclude that Mr Hajusu while he isolated himself compromised the boy to commit the crime.

Bwire remains in hospital battling for his life.
